[Review] "The_Illuminae_Files" trilogy - Amie Kaufman, Jay Kristoff

It's finally here! The third and last book of the trilogy of "The_Illuminae_Files" named "Obsidio" is out today (13th of March). I am so so sad that it's already over but all great things come to an end. I want to thank One World Publications for giving me the chance to receive this book (with the goodies) and getting to review it for you all. Because I've never posted any reviews on any of "The_Illuminae_Files" I decided to talk about the two first book and then to review the third book, but all this in the same article.
So... Are you ready?

Title: Illuminae
Authors: Amie Kaufman, Jay Kristoff
Release date: October 2015
Publisher: Rock The Boat
Literary Genres: Young Adult, Sci-Fi
Pages: 608

The year is 2575 and two mega-corporations are at war over a planet that’s little more than an ice covered speck.  Too bad nobody thought to warn the people living on it.  With enemy fire raining down on them Ezra and Kady have to make their escape on the evacuating fleet.  But their troubles are just beginning.  A deadly plague has broken out on one of the space ships and it is mutating with terrifying results.  Their ships protection is seriously flawed.   No one will say what is going on.
As Kady hacks into a tangled web of data to find the truth its clear only one person can help her. Ezra. And the only problem with that is they split up before all this trouble started and she isn’t supposed to be talking to him.

This first book is a page turner, you just can't stop reading it because there are so many actions going from page one until the very last page. The presentation of the book with all his drawings, proper files pages, audio description, medical reports and so on... takes you into the authors' universe. An amazing job is done in this first book.
Let's talk about the story: In this first book, we're in 2575. We meet with Ezra and Kady when a war explodes on their planet. They didn't even know about it and end being separated on two differents space ships: one is on the Hypatia the other one on the Alexander. During the whole book they try to get to talk to each other to understand what is exactly happening and to try to save their lives and the Kerenza survivors.
If you still haven't read this masterpiece, I don't know what you are waiting for.

Title: Gemina
Authors: Amie Kaufman, Jay Kristoff
Release date: October 2016
Publisher: Rock The Boat
Literary Genres: Young Adult, Sci-Fi
Pages: 672

Hanna Donnelly is the station captain’s pampered daughter and Nik Malikov is the reluctant member of a notorious crime family. Together they struggle with the realities of life aboard the galaxy’s most boring space station, blissfully unaware that Kady Grant and the Hypatia are headed right toward Heimdall with news of the Kerenza invasion.

The second book is as stunning as the first book. It's incredible to see how much effort and work has been put into these books. Once again, we have amazing drawings of one the characters journal, the chat room, the audio description reports and so on...
In the second book, we have two new characters: Hanna and Nik. Both of them are really badass and super funny, you will love them. They are on Heimdall's planet and have no clue about what happened to Kerenza. They will have to get ready to help Kady into her fight against BeiTech to try and understand what happened and help their loved ones.
This second book is as awesome as the first book but also as heartbreaking. You can't stop wondering if your faves characters are going to survive or if the authors are going to be cruel enough to kill some of them.
Another masterpiece that has to be read! You won't regret it.

Title: Obsidio
Authors: Amie Kaufman, Jay Kristoff

Publisher: Rock The Boat
Literary Genres: Young Adult, Sci-Fi
Pages: 624

Asha survived BeiTech’s initial assault and has been working undercover with the hopelessly outmatched resistance ever since. The last thing she expected to worry about was her ex-boyfriend, Rhys Lindstrom who just landed planetside. Is he her way out – or guarantee she never gets off this frozen rock alive?

But Asha’s not the only one with problems. Her cousin Kady’s ragtag band of survivors are headed for Kerenza – without enough oxygen to last the journey. Oh, and there might be an insurrection brewing.

With BeiTech hurrying to repair their damaged jump gate, and a mass extermination planned for the Kerenza civilians, only a miracle could save them now. And everyone knows that miracles are just statistical probabilities…right?

That's it it's over. The last book. My heart is completely broken. Once again the authors worked so hard on this book, it's as amazing as the first two books. The suspense is here again and reveals amazing and incredible revelations from the first to the last page. The drawings and files are awesome once again and give a massive plus to this incredible book.

In this last book, Kady and Ezra are back from book one. Nik, Ella and Hanna from book two are also part of this book. And then we meet with two new characters: Asha and Rhys. They are all ready to reveal the last secret of "The Illuminae Files" and try to get back from the Mao to Kerenza IV.

This trilogy is truly my favourite and couldn't wish for a better way to end this adventure.
Get ready to go on board of the Mao direction Kerenza IV.

To conclude, this trilogy is the one to read. You'll never get bored of the story and design of the book. Also look at these covers... Aren't they lush? I am absolutely in love with them. It breaks my heart to have to say goodbye to this story but it has been a great pleasure to follow each character into their fight for their safety and to save their loved ones.

  2. I haven't read Illuminae yet, basically because I couldn't get my hands on a hardcover yet and the ebooks aren't really easy to read. It looks like an amazing and super exciting series. I adored your review, you made me even more excited to read the books.

The ebooks are really difficult to read, I completely agree. I still have them, though, just in case if I want to read them again and I am not home (not addicted to Illuminae at all, noooo).
Thank you, means a lot! xx
